Regency Wired Buckram Bonnet

Make your own silk regency bonnet with buckram, wire, silk and linen.

Our workshop will begin with an illustrated lecture examining the various bonnets of the regency era followed by a demonstration of the steps required in the construction of a bonnet.  Participants will choose their bonnet from a selection of designs and work in pairs, cutting and fitting in the traditional way and assembling all the pieces by hand.   By the end of this workshop participants should have a finished bonnet ready for trimming.

Participants are expected to have some experience in sewing.  

Recommended fabrics are silk dupion, silk batiste or silk taffeta.  You are encouraged to bring fabrics you would like to use for approval.  Please be aware we may deem a fabric unsuitable so bringing a few selections or contacting us beforehand is a good idea.  

Cost of this 2 day workshop is $250.00

There will be a morning tea and lunch buffet Saturday and Monday.
Tea and coffee are available at all times from the kitchen.
As a special extra we have organised a costumed outing to "The Tulip Farm" with John's musicians, who are performing there on Sunday afternoon. Extra costs may apply.
